China Has An Annual Dog (and Cat) Eating Festival

I’ll start by saying I can respect or at least understand opposing views of people and different cultures. An atheist that has a solid foundation of information to support his belief will likely have an understanding of opposing views of those who believe in God. The KKK (Ku Klux Klan) believes in white supremacy, a mindset preserved from hundreds of years ago. I understand it, but I don’t respect it.

For the last few years, China has had an annual dog meat festival to improve the industry. Apparently, laws have done little against the act, maybe because dog meat is a delicacy in the country. That could make things tricky. Moving on, if the photos from the links below enrage you, you have the option to act. Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project needs approximately 130,000 more signatures on their online petition aimed to end the festival to reach their goal of 1,500,000. If this spikes your interest in animals rights, check out Humane Society International.

Every culture and individual is free to believe what they want. Therefore, there is ALWAYS opposition somewhere. Do you think the festival shows lack of respect for animals. Does it matter? Where do you stand?
